So many friending memes, this being the latest. I haven't taken part in any of those, mainly because the sometimes rather personal questions being asked, and also because I have zero interest in some of the "other fandoms involved" parts. Now if someone were to say that they're into Game Of Thrones, Sherlock, Downton Abbey, The Amazing Race ( esp this since it's so hard finding anyone really into TAR ), Fringe, SPN and LOTR, I'd friend them like a shot. Alas, I haven't yet met that person.

Love the gifs in that meme though.

But I've plenty of SPN and LotR fellow fans, and enough of the other four to have a squee going ( sadly, not many TAR fans though ) so it's all GOOD *loves flist like mad*

Touch tonight. God, that was such a long wait since the pilot way back in January. Hubby had been pestering for the next ep, he's such a fan of Jack Bauer. You'd have thought that there wouldn't be much similarities between an obsessed federal agent and a single father raising an autistic son, but it's Keifer Sutherland, and Bohm sounds like Bauer, so.

The thing is, can the show live up to expectations after such a spectacular, fantastic pilot? Time will tell.

Btw, this is how much hubby likes Jack Bauer.

And he has his ringtone set to Jack's :D

Thank you, Rii!

Heh, that's his favourite shirt. He's hoping that total strangers who're fans of the show will say something about it, but so far, no :)

As much as I would like sometimes to have some "fresh meat" (haha) on my flist to make up for people who are mostly absent or gone now from fandom/LJ altogether, there's something about the friending memes that seem unnatural or forced, I don't know...It's like I have such a long history with so many of my flist, geesh, I've been on here for almost ten years and have gone through so many things, to just add some random people who only know which shows I like and that's all into my world seems a little strange for me. Not that I'm against meeting new friends, but it ends to be more natural, a combination of shared friends and fandoms and reading each other's works for awhile, etc....

Agree with you Claudia. I'm on my 7th year now and I could have added a couple but it just doesn't feel right. :/

I know what you meant about the memes being unnatural. Unless their interests are identical to mine, and preferrably they're about the same age, ( in other words, my ideal LJ friend would be me LOLOL ), I don't think I'd be adding anyone from the memes. Unless, you know, I only post about fannish stuffs, then I supposed the memes would be okay. As it is, I don't feel comfortable having random strangers reading about my family and my health and personal rants. I need to feel comfortable about them first!

Oh I LIKE you Hubby!!! :D

#1 Game Of Thrones: Soon I hope.

#2 Sherlock: That's a YES!

#3 Downton Abbey: Well, I liked it a lot. Sadly missed a lot of eps though.

#4 The Amazing Race: That's a YES!

#5 Fringe: Ah no. :(

#6 SPN: another no. :((

#7 LOTR: Well duh! :D

Yay I share some of your inteterests! Ok, so it's a bit hard to talk about TAR because we are so many years behind. And I haven't started with GOT yet. But I have 5 eps recorded now so I'll start watching soon! :D

btw: Why is Nolan so loyal to Emily?? I know he's helping her because of her dad but how did he know him again? Working together? Why does that mean such loyalty? Emily do not deserve it honestly. (Just saw the one with Daniel's birthday "party" in the end)

I like Emily actually, despite her flaws and her deep obsession with avenging his father. And that's one of the quirks that I like about Emily and Nolan's relationship. Nolan's rich and he could have anything, he didn't have to do what Emily told him to do, but he did, without question, even when Emily wasn't being nice to him. For some weird reasons, I like that!

I think he owed Emily's father for helping him be the billionaire that he is today. So when Emily's father asked him to protect Emily, he took it as his personal mission. Emily didn't want his help, that was why she was nasty to him. She was trying to push him away, but Nolan's one stubborn bastard, and I think he'd promised Emily's father to look after her, so.

Here's (http://layne67.livejournal.com/818492.html) a little bit of discussion on that, scroll through the comments ( no spoilers ).

Have you tried watching Fringe? It's as exciting as 24 to me, and hubby's a fan as well :))

Thanks for explaining. :)

I've watched a couple episodes here and there and I was like HUH?? the whole time. I saw some earlier episodes and then where it was suddenly some kind of alternativ universe or something... It seems too weird for me at the moment.

But one day I might see it. It's simply one of those shows you have to jump on board from the start me thinks.

Hee, for a moment I thought that Huh?? was for Revenge lol.

Anyway, yeah, Fringe may be a little hard to follow if you didn't watch it from the beginning. When I first got interested in it, I watched a random episode aired on TV and I couldn't make head or tail of it, and I thought it seemed a bit slow and boring. But a friend highly recommneded it and she said the magic words "It's like The X-Files" and since I'm such a fan of that, I just had to download the pilot and that was when I was hooked. It's one of the shows that you need to start right from the beginning!

Hee!! I love that shirt! (even though I've yet to actually get around to watching 24... it's on the list of DVD's to watch while treadmilling, though).

I have Touch on the DVR... it has been a terribly long time, hasn't it? I enjoyed the pilot quite a bit.

And I keep thinking I need to start adding more LOTR fans to my flist, which is pretty tiny compared to most, but I get so stupidly shy about adding people. I always feel like if they'd wanted to, they would have friended me by now, but that's really just my introverted introversion speaking, I imagine. :P

I got onto the 24 bandwagon late. I watched season 8 ( the last season ) and I liked it a lot that I just had to go look for the first 7 seasons. I love them all, and there wasn't a single episode that I didn't like :)

I was waiting and waiting for the second ep after the pilot, I thought they were going to air it the week after!

I find it really hard to make new friends, so I wish I could do the friending memes but I feel kind of awkward about it. I guess I ramble on about so many things - and not that many are fandom related - that I feel a bit of a fraud.

You, on the other hand, have to put up with me in all my oddness.

:-)

You know what I find most awkward about some of the memes? They asked for ... our ages. Esp when most of the memers wrote down their ages as somewhere between 15 and 25. Yikes.

I'll listen to your ceiling problems if you listen about my backache ...

:DD

Oh gosh, yes.

There are some very nice 20 year olds out there. But I don't have much in common with them apart from fandom - and even my views on that are different. LotR seemed to be older, more people our age. I liked that.

The ceiling is.... done. How's the back???

I have strange feeling about Touch now. Pilot was great. Ep #2 wasn't that good. But the show has potential and it also has Jack Bauer! *g*

I saw the second episode last night. It could be because it was almost midnight but I was yawning my head off, watching it. Halfway through we had to stop watching and probably will continue today.

It wasn't that it wasn't good, I just thought it was a bit slow, but still good. I'm not giving up on it yet, I have faith in Keifer, he is one of the producers after all.

I love Touch. I've seen 2 episodes so far, and it's a fun, interesting show, unlike anything else I've seen on television in a long time.

It's certainly is different, isn't it. But I can't help thinking of Jack Bauer ALL the time. When Bohm was struggling with the store robber, I thought, ha, Jack would have shot him in no time at all, so it felt a bit weird to see the masked man getting the better of him.
