Casey/Zeke ficlet and birthday greetings

Write a scene in high school, post-invasion and destruction of aliens, using all of these words at least once... honey, vinegar, lane, mountain, north, alchemy, absolute, lover and Illyria.
All in, but Monty, I'm absolutely certain that I got that alchemy thing completely wrong :/
A prequel, of sorts, to this ficlet. Can you figure out where the words came from? :D

Casey/Zeke ficlet

Zeke rolled his eyes in exasperation. He was almost sorry that he had suggested that they go for this excursion. He had thought that going fishing up in the mountains north of Herrington would be good for Casey. The boy looked too peaky for Zeke’s liking. Nothing like a good hike on the rugged lanes there to bring out the colour in Casey’s too pale face. Well, except for sex, he thought with an inward grin.
Unfortunately, Casey had got it into him to pack everything but the kitchen sink inside the huge picnic basket that Mrs Connor had given them.
“Do we need all these, Casey? “ he stared unbelievingly at the stuff that Casey had managed to cram into the basket. He had envisioned them hiking with only the bare necessities in their backpacks – a couple of fishing tackles, nothing more – cooking their freshly caught fish over a simple fire and eating the fish with their bare hands, and licking each other clean after that … Zeke felt a stirring in his belly just thinking about that.
Instead there were pots and pans with plates and glasses and ketchups and what looked like jars of honey and vinegar. What the fuck?
“Absolutely,” said Casey firmly, blushing brick-red when Zeke dug out a Bunsen burner tucked at the very bottom of the basket.
“Where did you get this?” Zeke asked.
“I borrowed it from the lab. Miss Illyria won’t mind, I’m sure.”
Zeke chuckled. Miss Illyria was their new science teacher. Prettier than Miss Burke, and certainly prettier than Mr Furlong, Zeke would have had a go at her if Casey had not become his lover after the Mary-Beth incident.
Zeke sighed resignedly and heaved the heavy basket into the back of his GTO. He sincerely hoped that he could park his car right by the river because there was no way he was going to carry that up to the mountains. Unless Casey had alchemy at his disposal; the magic power of transmutation that could change him into Superman, so that he could carry not only the fucking basket but Casey as well, right to the fishing site, with Casey staring adoringly at him ala Louis Lane.
Zeke shook himself out of his reverie, to find that Casey was staring at him adoringly and he couldn’t help but pull Casey into his arms and gave him the sweetest of kiss. For Casey, Zeke would do anything, even if it meant carrying the kitchen sink as well.

Date: 2006-09-29 10:36 am (UTC)Borderlines is a heartbreaker, although I have high hopes for a reasonably happy ending. I am incapable of writing fanfic of such epic proportions. My entire word count of all fanfic in all fandoms that I have posted so far is probably about equal to ONE chapter of Borderlines.
The confidence is me is very touching, nonetheless. <3

You haven't read Birthright? It's a heartbreaker too and very, very well-written. It's unfortunate that the author chose to take down the site. I have it on my hard-drive. If you're interested I can email it to you.
