And I'll be leaving for work soon.

I work half-day on Saturdays. Today, as of late, I won't be bringing the laptop to work with me. I've designated Saturdays as my Reading Day. My Book-Reading Day,to be precise. With no LJ for me to peek into every half-hour or so. And if the day is not too busy I should be able to finish quite a number of chapters.

I'm currently reading 'Sideways' by Rex Pickett. It has been languishing in my bag for many, many months. I'm now at pg 22. Very slow progress I'm making. The thing is, I need to reach the 'Point of No Return' before I can speed up on my reading. You know, when you reach the part when you simply must go on with the story no matter what, when you start bringing the book with you everywhere you go - to lunch, inside the car, while queueing at the banks or post-office ( it's amazing how fast the line moves when you're engrossed in a good book ). And yeah, that's when you're not so inclined to refresh your flist to see whether there's any update on your favourite fics *g*

So I'm hoping to reach that particular Point with this book today so that I can finish it and get on with the rest of my novels. Heh, my Stephen Kings are looking very inviting too. His latest on my shelf is ' Cell' which I bought along with Kim Edward's 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter' and Paolini's 'Eldest' which is the sequel to Eragon.

Then maybe I'll watch 'Sideways' the movie. Has anyone seen the movie or read the book?

Have a good weekend, everybody!

It's like crack, this being online business. Good crack, though!

I had a very good weekend, capped by Chelsea's win last night. Yay!!

I've seen the movie, and enjoyed it. But - two men going to the California wine country drinking Pinot Noir? Slashy, much? ;)

It's TOTALLY slashy! My mom loves that movie and made me watch it last year. And I giggled to myself about just how slashy it was...:D

Jack and Miles are about to meet Maya and Terra. Heh heh, that foursome has just to wait until next Saturday because I haven't reached my Point of No Return yet!

Yeah, very slashy. I just wish that I can replace the images of Church and Giamatti in my mind with say, Orli and Elijah! ;)

Nope, haven't seen the movie or read the book, dearest.

Have a wonderful read and enjoy your film, and may this weekend be a good'un.

*big hugs*

The book is just average. Very well written but the story is just, you know, slightly a bit boring. I'll have to plod on, I guess, unless the two male characters suddenly find out that they're actually in love with each other ;)

What are the characters like, in Sideways? I ask, because, you might not know, I tend to picture them with my favorite people. Novia even once told me when I said I couldn't get far with the Hobbit: Imagine Bilbo played by Elijah. :D

It's hard to imagine my OTPs in place of the 2 main characters because I've got the images of the 2 actors playing them firmly in my mind already - Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church ( who was not Anakin Skywalker as I thought he was initially ). I can't imagine why I bought the book in the first place. Maybe because the movie had such glowing reviews perhaps. An because it has some slashy potential which at the rate it's going now, is unlikely to materialize. Go read 'Rebecca' instead :)

Or 'As Meat Loves Salt'. Have you read that book?

What book is that? Who's the writer? Any potential I'd like it? Any Elijah there?

Heheh. Sorry.

Once I brought a book even to work with ne. I sat there and read and worked and everything needed three times as long as usual. But it was much to exciting to stop reading.

Have a wonderful entertaining and relaxing weekend, sweetie!

I remember when I was reading 'LOTR', that world, the Middle-Earth world, was more real to me than RL itself! It was a bummer to stop reading during the fight at Moria, or at the Pelennor fields, or when Sam and Frodo were inside the caves with Shelob!

Yeah, this is one of the big miracles of LotR. It seems all so real! How ever this happens, it can't be because of all the side stories and the other books about the same world, since I didn't know them, when I first read LotR. But the whole story seems to live.

I know that Point!

When you don't really like a book but you HAVE to finish it no matter what. And do it NOW.

Heheh, but the thing is, with me, if a book is just average or right down bad, there is no 'Point' to begin with! You just have to plod on and on, flicking through the unread parts to see how much more of the book you have to endure.

FYI, with 'Damaged', The Point came quite quickly, when Orli first saw Elijah at the train station for the first time with his cheap clothes and cheap shoes. That's The Point, when I just knew that 'Damaged' was going to be a keeper. If it was a book I would have finished it in record time, foregoing sleep if need be :DD

You have made my day!

I love that you thought that, that Damaged still means that much to you. Thank you times 10 million!!!!!
