Re-living Eomer.
Jan. 14th, 2007 01:29 amJust came back from the cinema. Saw the movie 'Pathfinder'. With Karl Urban. ( Karl Urban was in the movie. I saw the movie with the husband. That needs to be clarified ) It was okay. Lots and lots of blood and gore. I don't think I would have watched it if not for Karl Urban. And him playing a Viking, too. Brought back memories of Eomer, Man of Rohan. But this Eomer showed a lot more skin than the Middle-Earth one. A lot more. As in him being almost three-quarter naked *drools*
See what I mean?
As I said, the movie was okay. At times it reminded me of 'Rambo'. At times, err, 'Home Alone'. That quite a lot of the scenes reminded me of LOTR goes without saying. The Vikings and their horses looked like the Nazguls. Sometimes they looked like orcs. All those snow made me think of Caradhras. Complete with the avalanche. And of course, there was Eomer himself.
Went to the bookstore after that. I wanted to buy 'The Oxford Murders'. They don't have it, unfortunately. Oh well, maybe I should wait and see if they'll publish it with Elijah on the cover. But I must must must read it before the movie comes out.
I bought PD James's 'The Children of Men' instead. Clive Owen is starring in that movie with Alfonso Cuaron directing. Should be good. Don't know whether it'll ever make it here, though.
I also bought Ben Elton's 'Chart Throb' - The Ultimate pop quest. Ninety-five thousand hopefuls. Three judges. Just one winner. A comic satire with a hilarious deconstruction of the world of television shows.
Very appropriate, since 'American Idol' is starting next week. I can't wait!
