Brrrr. The nights have been cold at my place for the past one week. It dropped to 20 deg Celsius a couple of nights ago, that's about 68F. Yeah, yeah, I know, that's nothing to some of you but for a tropical country, and for one who has never experienced winter, spring or autumn, that is very cold. I was shivering and it really warmed my heart when I read this beautiful poem over at [livejournal.com profile] mews1945's journal *g*

It's the cloudless skies that brings about such low night temperature but omg, the same clear skies mean that it'll be extra-hot in the daytime with the temperature sometimes soaring up to 40C at mid-day.

So, after the floods we're now bracing ourselves for a long, dry period. We're thinking of stocking up on bottled mineral water and rice and stuff. Luckily we live near the dams and so far we never had any water shortage to speak of even when others less than 20 kms away were having their supply rationed.

I watched 'Ugly Betty' the pilot episode last night. It was hilarious! We had the original South American version shown here before but I rarely watched it then because it was shown during the daytime. And when I did manage to watch it I hardly laughed because, well, it was hard to laugh from the subtitles when you don't understand a word of Spanish or whatever. Though I must say the subtitled ones are much better than the dubbed ones. The voice-overs are pretty atrocious I tell you.

Anyway, I only got to watch the second half of 'Ugly Betty' because 'Supernatural' was shown at another channel. Sammy ( and Dean ) won last night :)

What about you? Would you rather drool over the brothers and their angsts or laughed at the antics of the adorable Betty?

Speaking of angst, [livejournal.com profile] lbilover wrote this amazing Faculty fic entitled ,Winding Road. It has angst, it has love, it has romance and it has hawt sex! It was post-invasion and Casey was now in California studying at Stanford while Zeke was still in Herrington. Casey was definitely in love with Zeke, he missed Zeke like crazy but the thing is he didn't know what exactly Zeke felt for him.

Rain in California and sun in Herrington. Zeke would say… Casey’s mind shied away from finishing the thought. Zeke would have nothing to say. When would he ever accept that fact? Zeke had never had anything to say, had he, the only word that had ever crossed his lips was Casey…

*dies*

On a more somber note.

Fire. And Water.

My heart goes out to [livejournal.com profile] i_o_r_h_a_e_l and the people of Jakarta, and to [livejournal.com profile] arhiaz and the people occupying the same appartment as hers. Both of you are in my thoughts.

*tight hugs to both of you*

**hugs you**

And now I don't feel so bad for shivering like crazy when it's 10 C (because that's cold for Florida but REALLY cold for you) but then it's like -35 C in other parts of the country right now...so 10 C should be very warm...

I'd freeze if it's 10 C. I was at a hill station once and the temp there dropped to an unbelievable 17 C. I almost couldn't walk for the cold! But, I don't know, I think I prefer that to our blisteringly hot days. Thank goodness for A/C.

We're thinking of stocking up on bottled mineral water and rice and stuff.

I think that's always a good idea, even if you're not in an emergency situation. I live in 'earthquake country', and my mom and I always keep about six gallons of water (each) stashed away for emergency use.

In glass bottles, I hope! When water sits in plastic containers for too long, the chemicals start leaching into the water. Change it out every now and then for safety's sake. :)

Oh yes, glass bottles of course. Thanks for reminding me. Gosh I miss those made-of-glass-Ribena bottles. Almot everything is plastic nowadays :(

We've never done that before, stocking up on things and it feels strange to be even thinking about doing so but we live in strange times nowadays, all these wierd weather phenomenons. This pic here (http://www.thestar.com.my/) is scaring the hell out of me :/

If you're used to heat, 68 farenheit can feel darned cold. *cuddles you*
Ugly Betty comes on at 8 pm here, and Supernatural at 9, so I can watch both. America Fererra is adorable, isn't she?

I loved that Casey/Zeke that Lbilover wrote. It's so beautiful.

Ah, but it's much better than frying under the hot sun during the daytime. I really feel for those who have to work outside - the traffic police, the road workers.

It was only the pilot episode last night but I love Ugly Betty already. I'll probably watch the repeat show for SPN next week but it's at midnight ... eeeps.

Wow, it's been a bit since I've said hello to you directly... glad to hear you're doing well!
We've been freezing cold here, too. Terrible! Had to walk in it yesterday to an appointment. I am SO getting my license back, and soon...
And I read the angst-happy-end fic, too! uite good. I'm very all-over-the-map here tonight, so forgive me. :)

Ohhh lonnnng storrrrry. LOL! It's about a million pages in explanation. Just a lot of stupid shit, really. A string of events where: I didn't pay a speeding ticket--->they revoked my license--->I drove anyway--->got caught--->TWICE--->redeemed myself and got it back--->got stopped and ticketed for our license plate being in the back window (we'd just gotten the car a week before, my husband was SUPPOSED to put it on)--->had enough violations that they revoked it AGAIN. It's a-nnoy-ing!!

What do you have to do to get your license back? Pay a fine?

I gotta take a stupid 6-8 hour course on driving, AND pay a reinstatement fee, etc., yes. *groans*

Casey cannot have a fling with Sammy while waiting for Zeke to come.

:P

SPN starts at 9, Betty at 9.30 at another channel. Darn.

Bwahahahahaha!!

But Sammy is sooooo sweet! :D

Oh, the other day I found out that a friend graduated his master's degree from Stanford. And I said, "Stanford, eh?" and grinned a wide grin. And he asked suspiciously, "What? Why?" And I said, "Nothing."

Heheheh.

And now that I think of it, I don't get to see SPN at 8 (Jkt time) either. It's my mother's time to see sinetrons. LOL. I can only see the repeat.

Zeke would have a fit if Sam dares to flirt with Case. He'd beat up Sam and then Dean would come to Sam's rescue. There'd be a bloodbath!!

68 F is cold? A strange concept. Yesterday it was -12 F here.

That's -24 C to you.

By the time it warmed up to zero F, I was out there shoveling snow. :)

I'm glad the rains are ended at last!! Hard to think of 68 as cold- we had wind chills of -10 yesterday morning :))

I hate to disppoint Iorhael, but I'm afraid no Sam/Casey at Stanford :O I'm probably the only person in LJ who has watched Supernatural (rented the entire first season) and just doesn't feel the Sam and Dean love. The show left me totally cold, although the actors are very nice-looking guys :)

Thank you for the rec, dear Layne. I'm so happy you liked the story!! *hugs you*

Apparrently it has been a warm winter in Russia, too.

WARM IN WINTER: It’s winter in Moscow and the temperature is -4°C. But due to high humidity and wind, the Moscow River has not frozen over as it normally would. Global warming has played havoc to climatic conditions around the world. --AP

*sends love to Shinta here in your journal* ♥ you both!

Heh, I thought it was fun to read that your temperature has dropped to 20 degrees C. We have a snowstorm here today and we could hardly get into town and pick up my sister. I walked one of the dogs today and I had snow up to my knees. :/ I took some pictures from our balcony which I'd planned to post but it doesn't work. When I've figured out what's wrong I'll post them.

Ohhhh, angsty Winchester!!!!!! *slurp drools howls*

Oh but it's cold in Sweden, even in summer, isn't it? My wish before I die ( oh dear that sounds so morbid, sorry ) is to experience snow :)

Date: 2007-02-07 11:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] majblomma2000.livejournal.com
That depends on what you mean by cold. Summer in Sweden is usually wonderful about 20-25 degrees Celsius. :) I don't like it when it's too warm if I'm not close to water. I can understand that you want to experience snow. It's cold and wet. It has so many different consistences depending on how cold it is. Some snow is perfect for making snowballs because it's "sticky", like rice. If you try to make balls of rice you know what I mean. Then there is newly fallen snow that is very loose, like powder. You can't make snowballs of it. I love snow, especially when I look out and see it everywhere. :) There are many other different snow but these are the snow that is most common here. :)

From: [identity profile] layne67.livejournal.com
Your description of the newly fallen snow sounds heavenly ... and so romantic :)

And that 20-25 C is quite cold, by our standard!

Dear, you live in a place where extreme weather is normal, floods and then dry period. I don't know if I'd be able to adapt to that kind of climate, I tend to worry when things aren't balanced.

I'm often thinking about you and, in these days, about dear Shinta who's facing a huge problem. And of course Arhiaz, who I don't know, but she lost almost everything in the fire.

We should enjoy life and everything we have to the fullest!
