Sam leaves for college and John helps Dean deal with life without Sammy.

With newly opened eyes, though, John could also see the signs of Dean’s misery. In sleep, the emotions Dean worked so hard to bury while awake showed on his face. At the moment, there was a crease of worry on Dean’s forehead and, even deep asleep, he looked sad. Dean’s face also looked a little thinner and John figured his earlier guess about Dean not eating anything that morning had been correct. Now that he thought about it, he couldn’t remember Dean eating much of anything since coming back from the bus station without his brother.

*sniffs*

omg Dean has tears in his eyes! Is that from season 2? Coz I can't remember him really crying like that from S1.

One of my favourite SPN fics are the Sam-goes-to-college-and-Dean-gets-left-behind fics. Oh God, the angst!!

In that particular fic, when John saw him checking his mobile ... *bawls*

I guess Sam was waiting for him to call while Dean was waiting for Sam to call. Each to proud to make the first move.

And yes, the pics are from S2. Sorry for the spoiler, but I couldn't help it! :D Dean gets teary a lot in S2 which just squeezed my heart harder.

Btw, he did cry in S1, in Home when he called his father in the gas station.

Oh, I remember that one! I remember thinking that omg, he had to make that call away from Sam. He didn't want Sam to know that he didn't actually know what to do. Poor Dean.
