I almost gave In Reverse written by sodakey a miss. Read the first few paras, saw that the story has 31 chapters, not a Wincest and for the life of me I couldn't remember why I bookmarked it ( there was no summary provided, just that the story was set after 'Faith' ), or who rec'd it to me in the first place. Yup, I was *this* close to hitting the back-button.

And oh boy, oh boy, I am SO GLAD that I persevere, because the story is like, AMAZING and completely AWESOME. Truly brilliant.

The story started with a flsahback to Sam and Dean with John on a hunt gone wrong in Lander, Wyoming 1996, after which it fastforwarded to the present time, with John missing and Dean just healing from the events in 'Faith'. And this was where things started to get interesting because who would they ran into but Sam's old college buddies. Who insisted that Sam ( and Dean ) join them. Things predictably got very, very angsty from then on, with Dean very much feeling out-of-place and insecure, seeing Sam interacting with his friends.

This is not Wincest, but the love is very much there, so much so that some of Sam's friends felt that something was just not right, that they were pathologically co-dependent, and blaming Dean for what happened to Sam.

A very intense story; the supernatural side of it is amazing, as is the relationship between Sam and Dean, how they found each other in new ways, how they discover that there is a difference in between want and need.

I love my Wincests, but somehow, this story is it for me. I can't reccommend this story highly enough.

In Reverse.

Omg does that mean it's finished? I read that one in June when it had 27 chapters or so, assuming that it was finished AND THEN IT WASN'T.

It's indeed a great story, Chloe. It has hurt!Dean, jealous!Dean, insecure!Dean, super-protective!Sam - all my kinks! Heheh, the only thing that would make it perfect for me is for them to take their relationship to the next level.

But, really, the story's awesome as it is. Enjoy! Would love to know what you think of it :)

Was it you who rec'd this to me? I can't remember.

Yes, go read it again. The last chapter esp rocks. I almost fall off my chair when Sam's friends said he was Jason Bourne-ish!! *is sooooooo happy with that comparison*

And don't you think thay the icon that you made here is so appropriate to the story?

I don't remember either.

Heheh. Sodakey must be a fan of JB.

And the icon is appropriate anywhere if it's about them. :')

It's okay. I only have a vague idea on what it is about anyway. :D

I'm halfway through a second read :)

Slept at 4 am Satruday night and last night I stayed up until 2, I just wanted to know the ending real bad.

And oh, btw, Sam went Jason Bourne on Blake *g*

It read this to chapter 26 or 27, then set it aside since it was so long between updates. I go on two weeks holidays at the end of the week, so guess what I'll be doing then :)

Oh my goodness, I can't imagine having to wait after what happened to Sam at the end of chapter 27!

The last 4 chapters are simply amazing, especially the last one. It was funny in a way, I was like, 31 chapters?? at the begining of the story and then I was like, only 31 chapters?

There's something in chapter 31 that I think you'd like :DD

I have been so tempted to go click on chapter 31 and read. So far I've managed to hold out, but it's hard...

It's been so long since I picked it up, I want to go back and re-read right from the beginning and experience it all in one go...is it Friday afternoon yet?

"There's something in chapter 31 that I think you'd like :DD,/i>"
~ you're not making it any easier to resist :D

~ I most definitely enjoyed that :)

Those last few chapters were definitely worth the wait. I actually went back and re-read the whole thing to refresh my memory and I'm glad I did. How great was that story?

That part about Sam going Jason Bourne, right? :DD

“If you ever touch my brother again, look at him sideways, go near him, or even say his name, you will spend the rest of your life breathing through a tube you son of a bitch.” Words starting cold and soft—building in momentum until they sounded like gunfire.

*dies*

Already saved the story, which started a long time ago. It turned out to be 181 pages with Arial font size 12, single spacing. Wow! And I have no idea what the story is, until I read your review here. Thanks, Layne! I guess I have to find a right time, a suitable amount of papers, and make sure I won't be running out the ink when I print this story. :)) Or perhaps I just ask [livejournal.com profile] i_o_r_h_a_e_l to do it.

It's really a fantastic story. Sam's friends came into the picture in the 2nd chapter which was why I almost didn't continue reading the fic as the first chapter didn't sound that promising.

Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did!

Have you read any of [livejournal.com profile] big_pink's stories? They're really amazing and she's a marvellous writer. Her fics are all gen btw :)
