The Doors of Time by felisblanco. J2 AU

I don't have enough words to express how incredible this story is. 65,000 words and I still don't have enough of it. It's so awesome that I suspect even 200K wouldn't be enough. I'm hooked, transfixed and riveted to my monitor screen - crying, laughing, smiling - and now I can't wait to read it all over again!

Summary : Jensen is a special child with special abilities. So special that no one's really comfortable with him, not even his family. He has no friends and he spends his days alone. Until Jared comes along that is. Jared, the only one who's able to get through to Jensen, but even Jared doesn't know the extent of Jensen's abilities, and to what terrible extent Jensen's family is capable of doing to keep Jensen safe.

It’s not like he doesn’t try to fit in and make friends, he really does. It just seems like nothing he does is good enough for them. If he smiles they blink. If he speaks they stare. And whenever they see him coming they get this panicked look in their eyes like they want to run away and they don’t even know why.
Jensen knows why. It’s the same thing that makes his dad worry and his mom cry. That makes Nana tell his parents he’s going to Hell, not even caring that he can hear her.
It’s what makes him ‘weird’.

It's incredible when people pour so much heart and soul and time and effort into a fic.

"The Piano" is one of my favorite movies of all time because of it's truth about women being silenced in this world, emotionally, artistically, sexually, physically. The same can be said of those who are "differently abled."

I haven't seen the movie and now I really want to. That along with the book 'The Lollipop Shoes' that the author said inspired her to write this story.

I'm still high from the story, remembering bits and peices from time to time, like the time when Jensen went with Jared to see Chad play, all doped up, him playing the piano, his mother's heartbreak and oh, I so pity the mum in all this. The agony that she must have gone through thinking that her son might be the one who killed her mother.

Is it not up yet, part 2?

I'm listening to the soundtrack now, the first one, when Jared met Jensen for the first time and he asked Jensen to play. So beautiful, made even more beautiful when I imagine Jensen playing it the way he looked in that gorgeous banner!

Hi there, I saw your rec for Felis' fic on the newsletter (and Felis linked me too) and had to squee when you mentioned you loved the banner I made :D

I'm glad you loved the fic so much. I've been lucky enough to see this fantastic story develop along the way, and to see other people feel the way I have for a long time about this story makes me so happy. Felis is brilliant! Just wait for the second part... I can say with complete confidence the wait will have been worth it. I've made more cover art for the second soundtrack and we have more art for the fic too that we hope will add to the richness of the story.

I'm so in love with the fic and the banner and the soundtrack and everything about the fic! I LOVE Jensen's look of utter concentration when sitting in front of the piano, him looking haggard and all *DIES*

I can't wait to see more of your art for the second part and I can't wait to find out what happened to Jensen and how Jared's going to find him.

I know but I have to spend time with Phil after work and then play here with my flist in the evenings so the best time, when I can sit down and give it proper attention, will be the weekend. We are planning, if the weather is nice, to take a picnic and go hang out in the National Park so I shall print it out and read while lying underneath some beautiful majestic ancient trees. Perfect no? And well worth waiting for! I shall definately come back and squee with you though!

Omg reading it outdoors lying under ancient trees with birds flying around you and maybe a horse or two would be the BEST way to read it, you'll know what I mean afterwards. Choose an OAK tree, okay? And if you could download the soundtrack and listen to it while reading, that would be even better. Jensen plays the piano a lot in that story, and with each piece that he plays, the author has given the accompanying music.

LIN! Thank you so much for the link. I got your email at work so I was able to go on and steal the fic so I could print it out. I've got the whole two Parts sitting on my bookcase now just waiting for me to read on the weekend. I CAN'T WAIT! Its popped up again as a rec on my flist so my excitement it building.
