Yes, it's another WIP but omg, I have so much love for it, so much, that I simply cannot not talk about it here, it's that awesome.

Brothers and Strangers by janissa11. Supernatural gen.

Sam was injured and had to be hospitalized. And while Sam was incapacitated, Dean found out things about himself, things that would never have occured to him but for the whispers of a demon. And it all began with his birth certificate, or the lack of one, him wondering why Sam had a copy while he had never seen his, and one thing lead to another.

It's an old story but I'm kinda glad that I found it late because I can't imagine waiting *that* long for updates. It's now up to 22 chapters, the story is still alive, and the ending of the last chapter is bearable, the wait for the next update I mean. But oh man, Part One and Part Two? They killed me with the ANGST, I cried, no, bawled, many times, and it's not even a death!fic.

This story is about Dean finding himself, who and what he is, and of Sam needing his brother even when that brother had deemed himself no longer part of the family. It's Dean leaving the most important thing in his life, the thing that defined him as a son and a brother - his family.

Oh God, I can't recommend this story enough. Read, read, read!

Yes, this is the one. But like I said, it's not yet revealed who Gabriel, Michael and Raphael really are. One of them at least is probably a demon :(

No it's not! I think it's very pretty, but then it's Team Winchester. You can NEVER go wrong with the boys when the raw material is so very beautiful :)

I'll keep an eye on this. While I do prefer J2 fanfic, I read well-written Sam/Dean once in a blue moon. I'm a sucker for angst, so I'm looking forward to reading this story.

Another good Sam/Dean story ( I can't remember the author or title) is a story wherein Dean was alone on a hunt. He got injured while trying to save some children. Anyway, he loses him memory and the town takes care of him. He gets a job as a mechanic and settles down. Meanwhile, Sam rolls into town, looking for Dean.

Oh I know that one, it's 'What Remains', isn't it? I LOVE and ADORE that story and I wish that the author would write a sequel!!

And yeah, Brothers and Strangers is extremely well-written, I love that story so much!!

The first part made it sound like it's going to be a hurt!Sam fic, but oh boy, it's going to be a hurt!Dean fic, big time!!! Sam will continue to have a bad leg but it's Dean who's going to break your heart. Any idea yet where the story is going? Yeah, yeah, I'm dying to talk about it but I'm not going to spoil you!

Ambush sounds kind of familiar, I may have read it. Kidnapped!Sam?

Not kidnapped but beaten up but Dean is, too. Only this is more Sam!centric but with a very protective Dean. But then there is a lot of hurt for both boys and probably it's too violent. It's a bit hard to read, I think, and you tend to hold your breath the whole time. It's Gordon and his friends trying to kill Sam.

I've known about that story for a long time, but just can't bring myself to get involved in another WIP that may never complete. After 6 years of that torture, I reached my saturation point a couple years ago. :-) Maybe I will read if it ever completes.

Have you read this? It's a fantastic Dean-centric exploration of his emotional state about a month before high school graduation. Heart-rending but so smart and beautifully written.

Also finally got round to reading sodakey's "In Reverse" that has lots of Dean-whump, some Sam-whump and tons of brother love and bonding. Oldie but a goodie. Good antidote to the trials of season 4. ;-)

I don't really mind wips, not when there're other great fics to take my mind off whatever story that's not finished yet. Now if there was only one or two stories to read, then it would drive me nuts I suppose, waiting for an update. I've known of that author for quite some time but it's only recently that I've begun to dig up her old fics and omg they're GEMS!! You know, these LJers who write these great stories, sometimes I wonder what on earth are they doing on LJ with just a handful of people reading their stories when they could have them published!

Do you know art_savage? She's another writer that I've only recently discovered and oh Chloe, her stories (http://art-savage.livejournal.com/16798.html) are just amazingly fantastic!!

I LOVE 'In Reverse'! I've got a weakness for stories where Dean meets Sam's friends who make him feel insecure etc.

And I've read that story by ficwriter1966. Isn't it great to have her writing again? At one time I thought she had given up fandom for good, what with the LJ-deleting and all, so yeah, it's good to have another great writer back on board.

I've thought the same thing as you for years --why do some extraordinarily gifted writers do it for LJ? A few from various fandoms astounded me so that I thought maybe they were actually professionals taking on pseudonyms to play around with fanfic as a guilty pleasure. I was wrong. ;-)

When I read that story I thought it was completed then when I came to the first chapter of part 3 and she said there's going to be another 15 chapters or so I felt like crying I want Dean to get back to his family, his real family ie Sam and John real bad. And I want Dean to do that on his own, and not just because Sam and John save him, and not after he realizes that there's something wrong with Gabriel, if you know what I mean.

That part where Dean is with the Flemings really hurt me, more than when he sold the Impala, and I was sobbing when he did that.

Sometimes I don't know why I torture myself with the wips and then I read them and the stories are so good that yeah, the wait is worth it :)
