layne67: (spn thinking)

At around this hour tomorrow I would either be squeeing with glee, or head-desking in frustrations. I sometimes wish that I could watch SPN the way I did other shows. I mean, if I were to find an episode of say, CSI:NY boring/bad, I'd just shrug and forget about it the minute the story ends. But with SPN I'd be angstying about it for days if not for weeks!

I was talking about SPN episodes over the last 4 seasons with a friend the other day. Season One - love them all. Season 2 and 3 - there's one episode each that I don't like, and season 4? There're 4 episodes that I don't have any desire to re-watch whatsoever. But my love for SPN is still as strong as ever though I sometimes wish that I'm not so invested in the Winchester brothers. The heartache of Season 4 omg.

Anyway, going through season 4, these are my absolute favourites :

1. God, Are You There? It's Me, Dean Winchester. That scene where Sam and Dean and Bobby were fighting off those raised witnesses? That was the best. And we got to see Meg and Henricksen again!

2. In The Beginning. An awesome episode right from the moment Dean woke up on that bench, him meeting young John and looking over at young Mary and saying under his breath - Sammy, I'm going to hell. Again. Classic. And Mitch Pileggi. That was as close as we could get to actually getting Mulder and Scully on the show!

3. Monster Movie. I love the whole concept of the episode and I just can't get enough of it. And for some reasons I felt the connection between Sam and Dean that was sadly mostly missing in the other episodes.

4. Yellow Fever. One word. Jensen. And not for the first time I felt that Jensen would do really well in a comedic role. And who could ever forget that 'Eye of the Tiger' video clip!

5. On The Head Of A Pin. One of the most intense episodes with some of the most intense scenes. Dean's torture scene with Alastair. And his talk with Castiel at the end of the show. Perfect.

6. It's A Terrible Life. Not everyone's cup of tea, this episode, but I love it. The whole atmosphere, cheery and bright and colourful, and what's not to like about executive!Dean? A direct opposite to hunter!Dean in every way, and tech!Sam in that tight-fitting yellow tee, and Dean thinking that Sam was hitting on him! And The Ghostfacers teaching Sam and Dean about ghosthunting lol.

7. The Monster At The End Of This Book. I think I must have watched this episode like about a dozen times already. The slash out in the open, Sam and Dean as Sam'nDean's number one fans, them meeting Chuck and discussing about the books. I love everything about the episode. And apparently this is Misha Collin's favourite episode too!

Oh God, I really, really hope that I'll love the premier tomorrow!

I love Monster Movie, too! I'm so glad to hear someone else likes it. And I agree about the connection between Sam and Dean in that one. Big pretzel!

There's just something about that episode, a word to describe it which is hovering at the back of my mind but I can't quite get at it ... *is exasperated*

I thought they looked very affectionate with each other in that episode, it's like an afterglow or something :D

I'm right with you in waiting for another 24 hours for the new epi. OMG!

I don't know about episodes, but I loved the scene in the motel in "Metamorphosis", where Dean punches Sam, the best of the fourth season. I know, not the best 'brotherly love' moment, but somehow very memorable.

Oh God, yes, I love that scene too. Dean must have stayed out the whole night and Sam was waiting up for him. The way Sam was sitting at the desk, trying to read/research but I bet not a single page was turned the whole night. And when Dean came in and he started to pack and Sam went "Dean ...". Dean was just like a spouse who had just found out that his partner had cheated him with someone else. That's certainly one of my top ten favourite scenes and I like the episode well enough too. And who could forget the way Sam rushed out of the closet with Dean lying unconcious ( so prettily if I may say so ) and saying "Don't you dare touch him!"

I like you have some that I don't want to bow down and kiss the writers but I'd watch them all again because there is always something in there that hits just right.

Sometimes it's the acting, sometimes it's the connection and hell sometimes it's the guest character but there's never been an episode I couldn't find something I didn't like about it. That's not to say I didn't find things I didn't like because hell there's no way they could make me happy all the time. My husband can't even do that *snorts*

Oh you're right of course, even in the 4 episodes that I dislike there are some redeeming aspects of them but you know, it's just too much of a bother to keep fastforwarding the many scenes that I couldn't stand in them.

You must have seen the premier by now. And nooooo, don't say anything to me, unless it's to say that it's wonderful!

Yellow Fever is still my favorite. We've watched it about 20 times since it aired... maybe more. I used to use Eye of the Tiger to wake Ezri up every morning! In a weird way, I like Metamorphosis (okay, the first half of it, anyway).

My least favorites are I Know What You Did Last Summer and Jump the Shark... something I really feel bad about because Jared was AMAZING in those eps. Can't watch them again, though. LOL You know, I actually got a little offended by part of Eric Kripke's commentary on Lucifer Rising because, while I've never had a problem with Ruby's characterization, I've always had a problem with Genevieve's acting. To his credit as a director, or maybe it's all Jared because Eric said Jared and Genevieve worked "all weekend" on the scene, it did come off great...

I'm optimistic about this season, though. So far, the spoilers I've read have made me laugh so that's a good sign. Yay for Thursdays, huh?

Now I'm off to work with S1 to keep me company. :D

Daniel has all of Dean's moves in 'Eye of the Tiger' down pat - the thigh guitar, the scracthing, everything. That little rascal knows just what to do when he senses that his mama is angry with him, he'd just start doing his Dean thing!

My least favourites are ( and my apologies if you happened to love any of them ) ASS, Family Remains, Criss Angel is a Douche and the last one is a tie between Heaven & Hell and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Surprisingly I do not hate 'Jump The Shark' even though I was upset for weeks before the show even aired when I found out about the 3rd brother.

I've just got the premier downloaded and ready to watch, but I'm going to wait until I get home from work so that I can watch it with the rest of the family on TV.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

I am so looking forward to the season premiere. Season 4 was difficult and painful because the brothers were torn apart, and I'm hoping they'll at least be together part of the time for this season.

I'm just so happy that one third person ( demon ) is out of the way, unless it's now Lucifer's job to keep them apart. But hah, at least neither of them is going to have sex with Lucifer!

Even though Season Four left me a gigantic ball of angst who just wants to get down on my knees and beg Kripke to FIX IT ALL PLEASE???, I can still watch and enjoy most of the episodes. Ok, all but one - 4.09. *gags a little just at the thought*

Actually, I enjoyed Season Four more on the second viewing.

And I can't wait for later today. Although I'm really not looking forward to that waiting period for the dl and then the slow torturous wait as you watch it creep up and up ... 3.5%, 15%, 37.8%, 55%, 87.3% till finally - BOYS!!

Hee, forgive me, I've been awake since 4am - too wired to sleep!

It's a tie for me between 4.09 and 4.10, 4.09 for you-know-who and 4.10 for the somewhat silliness of the whole plot, though there are some good moments in 4.10. I still can't bring myself to watch ASS, Family Remains and Criss Angel for a second time. IDK, maybe I would like them on second viewing. Except for ASS.

Those are mostly my faves too, except for Are you there God...that one was just okay for me EXCEPT at the end where Castiel is all toppy with Dean and Dean is flinching. Save me!

On the Head of a Pin is my absolute top fave. The Monster at the End of This Book is fantastic, and Yellow Fever was fantastic. And Monster Movie...who could not love that one? I don't get it.

I think Metamorphosis was absolutely one of the best of the season too.

Personally, I think Season Four was the best, and I don't mind Sam and Dean being at odds. It's good drama.

Oh it's good drama alright but it's so PAINFUL. It just broke my heart to see the distance between them.

at the end where Castiel is all toppy with Dean and Dean is flinching.

Heheh, Dean looked like he was just about to roll down and beg for it lol. Magnificent.

*hands you some Xanax to help you relax*

I think the number of episodes I don't care for in a season has remained pretty consistent all four seasons. But I must say that even in my least favorite episodes, there is always something good that I liked (maybe only a handful of minutes) and enjoy seeing again, even if the rest of the episode wasn't my cup of tea. Of season premieres, I'd say IMTOD was my favorite, followed by Lazarus Rising, then the pilot, and dead last is Magnificient Seven, which I liked the first 20 or so minutes of and strongly disliked the rest.

Magnificent 7 is the one episode of S3 that I dislike, even on second viewing. A few of the episodes from S3 which I initially disliked I grew to love on second and third viewings but I just couldn't bring myself to like Magnificent 7.

And IMTOD is my number one favourite premier too. So many lovely scenes in it, in fact I love ALL the scenes in it, and oh, John Winchester ... *cries*

Every time I think of Dean screaming like a girl in "Yellow Fever" I get all giddy. It makes me laugh no matter where I am.

Just finished the premiere and off to post about it! Squeeee!!!

Jensen was simply awesome in 'Yellow Fever'. He's so cute and adorable I just want to hug him close. I love it when Sam seemed to be the big brother, and the scene with Lilith, and "I'll man the flashlight" and of course that scream!

I have the episode downloaded and will be watching it soon!

Well. Shows that runs for a long time tends to not hold the same... 'feelings/standard' as the first(s) one(s). Everything always has to escalate after a couple of seasons it seems. Somtimes that works but IMO mostly not.

The show's actually getting better, Suzy, it's just that I'm upset that the brothers seemed to be fighting a lot lately. The producers/creators said it's part of the story arc and we just had to trust them on it but oh Suzy, it hurts so much!!

They better have planned a great story arc for putting you through so much agony!
