Sep. 11th, 2009 12:08 amAt around this hour tomorrow I would either be squeeing with glee, or head-desking in frustrations. I sometimes wish that I could watch SPN the way I did other shows. I mean, if I were to find an episode of say, CSI:NY boring/bad, I'd just shrug and forget about it the minute the story ends. But with SPN I'd be angstying about it for days if not for weeks!
I was talking about SPN episodes over the last 4 seasons with a friend the other day. Season One - love them all. Season 2 and 3 - there's one episode each that I don't like, and season 4? There're 4 episodes that I don't have any desire to re-watch whatsoever. But my love for SPN is still as strong as ever though I sometimes wish that I'm not so invested in the Winchester brothers. The heartache of Season 4 omg.
Anyway, going through season 4, these are my absolute favourites :
1. God, Are You There? It's Me, Dean Winchester. That scene where Sam and Dean and Bobby were fighting off those raised witnesses? That was the best. And we got to see Meg and Henricksen again!
2. In The Beginning. An awesome episode right from the moment Dean woke up on that bench, him meeting young John and looking over at young Mary and saying under his breath - Sammy, I'm going to hell. Again. Classic. And Mitch Pileggi. That was as close as we could get to actually getting Mulder and Scully on the show!
3. Monster Movie. I love the whole concept of the episode and I just can't get enough of it. And for some reasons I felt the connection between Sam and Dean that was sadly mostly missing in the other episodes.
4. Yellow Fever. One word. Jensen. And not for the first time I felt that Jensen would do really well in a comedic role. And who could ever forget that 'Eye of the Tiger' video clip!
5. On The Head Of A Pin. One of the most intense episodes with some of the most intense scenes. Dean's torture scene with Alastair. And his talk with Castiel at the end of the show. Perfect.
6. It's A Terrible Life. Not everyone's cup of tea, this episode, but I love it. The whole atmosphere, cheery and bright and colourful, and what's not to like about executive!Dean? A direct opposite to hunter!Dean in every way, and tech!Sam in that tight-fitting yellow tee, and Dean thinking that Sam was hitting on him! And The Ghostfacers teaching Sam and Dean about ghosthunting lol.
7. The Monster At The End Of This Book. I think I must have watched this episode like about a dozen times already. The slash out in the open, Sam and Dean as Sam'nDean's number one fans, them meeting Chuck and discussing about the books. I love everything about the episode. And apparently this is Misha Collin's favourite episode too!
Oh God, I really, really hope that I'll love the premier tomorrow!

Date: 2009-09-10 04:34 pm (UTC)I don't know about episodes, but I loved the scene in the motel in "Metamorphosis", where Dean punches Sam, the best of the fourth season. I know, not the best 'brotherly love' moment, but somehow very memorable.

Date: 2009-09-10 05:23 pm (UTC)Sometimes it's the acting, sometimes it's the connection and hell sometimes it's the guest character but there's never been an episode I couldn't find something I didn't like about it. That's not to say I didn't find things I didn't like because hell there's no way they could make me happy all the time. My husband can't even do that *snorts*

Date: 2009-09-10 07:05 pm (UTC)My least favorites are I Know What You Did Last Summer and Jump the Shark... something I really feel bad about because Jared was AMAZING in those eps. Can't watch them again, though. LOL You know, I actually got a little offended by part of Eric Kripke's commentary on Lucifer Rising because, while I've never had a problem with Ruby's characterization, I've always had a problem with Genevieve's acting. To his credit as a director, or maybe it's all Jared because Eric said Jared and Genevieve worked "all weekend" on the scene, it did come off great...
I'm optimistic about this season, though. So far, the spoilers I've read have made me laugh so that's a good sign. Yay for Thursdays, huh?
Now I'm off to work with S1 to keep me company. :D

Date: 2009-09-10 08:58 pm (UTC)Actually, I enjoyed Season Four more on the second viewing.
And I can't wait for later today. Although I'm really not looking forward to that waiting period for the dl and then the slow torturous wait as you watch it creep up and up ... 3.5%, 15%, 37.8%, 55%, 87.3% till finally - BOYS!!
Hee, forgive me, I've been awake since 4am - too wired to sleep!

Date: 2009-09-11 12:18 am (UTC)On the Head of a Pin is my absolute top fave. The Monster at the End of This Book is fantastic, and Yellow Fever was fantastic. And Monster Movie...who could not love that one? I don't get it.
I think Metamorphosis was absolutely one of the best of the season too.
Personally, I think Season Four was the best, and I don't mind Sam and Dean being at odds. It's good drama.

Date: 2009-09-11 12:30 am (UTC)I think the number of episodes I don't care for in a season has remained pretty consistent all four seasons. But I must say that even in my least favorite episodes, there is always something good that I liked (maybe only a handful of minutes) and enjoy seeing again, even if the rest of the episode wasn't my cup of tea. Of season premieres, I'd say IMTOD was my favorite, followed by Lazarus Rising, then the pilot, and dead last is Magnificient Seven, which I liked the first 20 or so minutes of and strongly disliked the rest.

Date: 2009-09-11 03:18 am (UTC)My least favourites are ( and my apologies if you happened to love any of them ) ASS, Family Remains, Criss Angel is a Douche and the last one is a tie between Heaven & Hell and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Surprisingly I do not hate 'Jump The Shark' even though I was upset for weeks before the show even aired when I found out about the 3rd brother.
I've just got the premier downloaded and ready to watch, but I'm going to wait until I get home from work so that I can watch it with the rest of the family on TV.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Heheh, Dean looked like he was just about to roll down and beg for it lol. Magnificent.
