I watched Clash of the Titans yesterday. In 3D. I don't know whether it was because of the 3D thing, the glasses bothered me a lot for one thing, but I didn't really enjoy it much. I thought it was a bit slow-moving especially the first half, I was like, urging the story to move. Sam Worthington was a bit of a disappointment for me. I loved him in Terminator Salvation but not in this. I thought he had one and only one expression throughout the movie :(

I found myself comparing this Perseus to Percy Jackson, and I think I prefer the other Percy. Speaking of that Percy, how come he was the son of Poseidon while this Perseus was Zeus's son? I haven't read The Lightning Thief. Did the author play around with the mythology or something?

I probably would have enjoyed the 2D version more. And also, I think I'm going to restrict my 3D experience just to the animated films from now on. Watching that wasn't very pleasant for me.

I haven't seen either of those movies but we did go to "How To Train Your Dragon" yesterday and THAT was fantastic! Have you seen that one? I thought the one dragon looked suspiciously like a pokemon. LOL

Yeah, they (critics) said it was an okay (read average) action flick but the 3D does nothing to enhance the experience and if you see it you should see it in 2D. ;)

I was going to see this with my boys but it was a choice between watching the film or going shopping without them for TWO HOURS. No contest really.

Isn't Percy Jackson a soul singer???

Clash of the Titans was the worst film I've seen in years, there were no redeeming features as far as I am concerned, what a waste of a couple of hours of my life :(

I didn't really enjoy Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief but Clash made the former seemed good in comparison!

I haven't seen Dragon yet but I want to!!

I took off the glasses on and off but unfortunately without them it was all blurred.

I'm wondering about Sam Worthington a bit. Is he big in Australia? I've never heard of him before Terminator Salvation but here he is in 3 huge movies one after another!

Thank God you went shopping instead! What did your boys say about the movie?

Maaaybe ... I don't know that Percy Jackson. The one I was talking about was from the other Perseus movie - Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief :)

I watched it mainly because of Sam Worthington, I thought he was awesome in Terminator Salvation. But unfortunately, he ( and all the rest ) were quite awful and I had a hard time keeping awake during the movie.

yeah, you have to see the version of film which is 2D, since the 3D is put together with two slightly different coloured images in a different way. I found this 'new' 3D to annoy me too for some reason, that was when I watched Avatar. -_-`

Sam. Well...he's big enough now! :P Everywhere in the world. But yeah...he's kind of been around but unless people paid attention he wasn't ever much of a Aussie 'star' I don't think he was ever in Neighbours or anything like that. He was in a local production of Macbeth that's probably the biggest thing. But...a lot of people didn't get that. I wanted to see it (still do!), but the adaptation wasn't to everyone's style.

(Wow, I just looked closer at his imdb page. His first credited role was in JAG! Not even an Aussie or NZ thing first, then 2nd it was Aussie 'Water Rats' Haha.)

They said it was only 'all right,' so I think they agreed with you. It's hard to tell with a monosyllabic 15 year old though!

Thank you for the review. But I know I'm not going to watch it anyway. :)

I think that's Percy Sledge (sp?)

I thought I knew a Percy Jackson that was a soul singer, this was back when I was a kid. He was old school then, real early days of soul. But then I maybe wrong. There's been a lot of alcohol and good times since then!

*agrees* Although even 'Up' gave me a headache in 3D, I'm planning to watch 'Dragons' this weekend. The story's the thing after all, and Avatar, albeit beautiful, just looked like a glorified video game to me.

Perseus was the son of Zeus. Anything else is creative license, I suppose.

And to think that I couldn't decide between Date Night and this! Date Night is far more superior in terms of enjoyment and overall entertainment.

Oh I want to watch Dragon so bad! Maybe next week. We don't have any 3D cinemas near our place. A proper excursion to KL has to be made for that!

Percy Jackson is named after the Greek hero Perseus because Perseus is the ONLY Greek hero that doesn't end up dying some horrific death. He actually gets to live happily ever after. So Percy's mom is hoping to get him a little luck.

So, in the book, there was like, two Perseus? Perseus the legend, son of Zeus (?), and Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon? ( I saw the movie but didn't read the book ).

Yep. That's how they did it. So all the Greek heroes happened in myth and they were demigods like the kids in the movies.

Thanks! Heheh, and also, I now look upon Adam with different eyes after that movie. And it kinda tickled me a little, because you know, Jake looked so tall in the movie but seemed tiny standing beside his two SPN brothers!

I can't believe you watched it in 3D! I should've warned you about that. This movie was not made for 3D. It was shot normally and was later 'cut' (I imagine the process to be similar to pop-up books LOL) to include the 3D-ness of it. Since 3D is all the rage now, heh.

Avatar was made for 3D. How to Train your Dragon was made for 3D. It is quite possibly the best 3D movie ever! My hubby even went so far as to say that the flying scenes in Dragon totally trumped the scenes in Avatar (which he had initially loved to death).

Oh okay, there's still hope for 3Ds then. I thought all 3Ds are like that, quite unimpressive and over-rated that is. My Bloody Valentine was made for 3D, wasn't it? I wish I could see 3D Jensen - that would be something, wouldn't it? :))

Oh, was this your first 3D movie experience? *pets you* Don't be turned off! Loads of 3D movies are incredible. Most of the time hubby and I would watch the 3D version of a movie. We made an exception for Titans because we had heard reviews of how much it sucked.

One movie we kinda regretted watching in 3D was Up. And possibly Bolt. Those movies were good, but 3D wasn't necessary.

Oh, 3D Jensen (and on the big screen) would've been wonderful. :D

In Greek mythology Perseus is Zeus's son, the Percy Jackson of the Lightning Thief was actually named after the Greek mythology character Perseus, because his mother said that Perseus was one of the few half-god children in Greek mythology who doesn't have a tragic fate.

So in the book there were actually two Perseus, right? But I'm still a bit confused, the original Perseus did exist? Zeus didn't say anything about having a son called Perseus in it?

Have you seen SPN 5.19, Jenny?

In the Lightning Thief, yes there are supposed to be two Perseuses as I understand it.

I actually haven't watched any of season 5.... I've decided I'm going to wait for the entire season and then binge and watch the entire thing.
