Any fans of the TV sitcom 'Duet' aired some time in the early 80's starring Mary Page Keller here? I had a moment of confusion when I thought she was Mary Louise Parker. Saw her ( Parker I mean ) in the movie 'Red' and I was wondering how come she looked so young and that it seemed like she had hardly aged a day since 'Duet'. Younger-looking even!

Currently reading Children of Men by PD James. I wouldn't have read it if not for PD James being my favourite whodunit writer after Agatha Christie - It is the near future: no children have been born for twenty-five years. The human race faces extinction, the old are despairing and the young cruel - sounds so bleak and so not my cup of tea. But it's PD James ( and Clive Owen! ) and now I found myself engrossed in it. Interesting story!

And also, I finished The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time in a record time ( for me ) of less than a week. Finished it while inside the plane and I got a kick when my country was mentioned heheh.

I've read all of Agatha Christie's books and I was lamenting the fact that I didn't have anything new of her to read, so I was very happy when I discovered PD James, her murder mysteries are almost like Agatha Christie's, the English settings, the detectives and all that.

Say HI!!! to your your friend! Is she on LJ?

I missed the movie when it was making its rounds here unfortunately. And yes, the book is very interesting. I didn't expect it to be so since it wasn't her usual style but it was good, very atmospheric and riveting.

Travelling is good!!! I enjoy the TV shows where they show out-of-way, non-tourisy places. Ian Wright is a favourite. And that's also why I enjoy The Amazing Race very much, it shows plenty of back-alley places, things you don't get to see in the run-of-the-mill travel shows!

Yes, PD James! Definitely in my 5 favorites. That was a great book, and I really liked the movie, too (Clive Owen--I third this).

Yay fellow PD James fan!!! And who are the other four I wonder? :)

Clive Owen was awesome in Bourne Identity, wasn't he? And I think he was in The International too?

Well, I guess this is a little more than 4, but here are a few:

Jane Austen, Walker Percy, Ellen Gilchrist, Dorothy Sayers, Margaret Drabble, Ann Patchett, and P.G. Wodehouse. I discovered PD James many, many years ago, and have never lost my fondness for her.

Clive Owen is awesome in everything. Have you seen him in Closer, with Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman and Jude Law? Intense.

"You think love is simple. You think the heart is like a diagram."

"Have you ever seen a human heart? It looks like a fist, wrapped in blood! Go fuck yourself! You writer! You liar!"

I'll always remember that line. ;D
