I've started on Book 3 part 2.

1. Robb named Jon his heir omg. Despite Catelyn, he named Jon his heir. And what he said about Jon, awww ...

*takes a breath*

It's heartbreaking, what happened to Robb, but I had been spoiled for that, reading about it in a fanfic, so I wasn't as devastated as I would have been. And I can't imagine what the shock would have been like if I were to find out about it on TV. I was stunned when Ned died, I probably would have passed out with Robb. Robb being killed I mean, not Robb passing out with me.

I still do not know what happened to Cat. But I'm thinking she's still alive. Late Lord Frey probably enjoys torturing her that way.

2. Ser Barristan! I had been wondering what happened to him after he was spectacularly dismissed by Cersei and it never occured to me that he was Arstan Whitebeard. That was a good one.

3. Jon, Jon, Jon ... I think I'd have liked Yigrette better if I hadn't been shipping him with Robb. Likewise, I'd probably like Jeyne too but as it is, aarggh. Two new characters that I'm NOT looking forward to seeing. And Satin, I wonder how he'd look like - the pretty-as-a-girl boy born and raised in a brothel. Not that there's a shortage of boys-looking-like-girls in the series, what's the term - androgynous? - there's Joffrey for one, and Loras, Viserys, too. The image of Frodo looking exceptionally pretty popped up in my head when I read about Satin, and if Jon/Robb is not my favourite ship, I would have paired off these two. The way they fought the wildings together on the wall was pretty awesome.

4. One character that I am excited about, and it's a girl lol, is Margaery Tyrell. Mostly because she'll be played by Natalie Domer whose performance as the feisty Anne Boleyn in The Tudors I very much enjoyed. But I like the character per se, too, what I've read so far that is. Mmmmm, I wonder very much whether there'll be more sizzling scenes between Loras and Renly.

5. Dany continues to surprise me with her determination and her single-mindedness to win back her kingdom. At one point, I had almost given her up for being weak and fickle-minded, but nope, she's the Mother Of the Dragons alright!

6. And Tyrion, oh, Tyrion. Even amidst the angst and the heartbreak, he still could make me laugh. I really, really like him. I hope Sansa will grow to like him, too, even love him.

1. Yay for Robb naming Jon as his heir. Tragedy for the rest of it.

3. Don't forget Lancel Lannister, too, Cersei's other incestuous lover. He's also pretty androgynous.

4. Margaery is very intriguing, and very important.

6. Sansa could have, obviously, been saddled with a far worse husband than Tyrion, but I have a hard time feeling as sorry for her as I should. Arya is by far my favorite character.

There are so many things I want to say, but I'm keeping my mouth shut, figuratively speaking, till you've finished all the books. One good thing I've heard is that not only will HBO keep producing the series as long as they possibly can, but they're sometimes adding scenes in to clarify things, even as they're leaving out some characters and various things that don't translate well or don't seem necessary. They're also moving some events around, I think to make it less confusing. So not everything in Season 2 is from Book 2, just as there were some Jaime scenes taken from Book 3 that ended up in the first season. The great news is the producers/writers love this series so much and want to do right by it, and GRRM is involved, so things shouldn't stray too far from his intentions.

Can't wait for April 1!

ETA: I love that illustration, which I assume is Photoshopped. Very well done!

1. I didn't expect Robb to do that, named Jon his heir I mean, and defending him when Cat was being nasty about him, so I was very happy about that. But ouch, what Lord Frey did to him, that was gruesome and right on CRUEL, I wonder whether that would appear on TV. But Tywin had what was coming to him, yes, I had come to the part where Joff died at his wedding,

3. Yes, of course, Lancel. I knew there's another girl!boy there.

4. I haven't come to the part where Margaery being revealed as important, but I like it when she was being kind to Sansa, along with the other Tyrell ladies. But I guess she has to be important in the storyline, esp when she asked what Joff was like before the wedding, and also because she was being played by Natalie Domer.

6. I know what you mean about Sansa. But I do actually understand her, she's a girly girl, her head full of handsome knights saving the damsels in distress, songs and poetries, that sort of thing, so yeah, I do feel sorry for her. I've come to the part where Littlefinger saved her, that was totally unexpected and very intriguing, though I do hope she won't end up liking him, and I hope she wouldn't forget that that man had a hand in her father's death.

I'm so glad that the show is being shown at HBO!

I love that pic. I assume it's done by fandom and not one of the "official" GoT pics? Because that's Jon Snow, isn't it? OMG the idea of him being *there* give me goosebumps, of the good kind of course :))

1. I'm certain it's going to be on TV, it is HBO after all. There's not much that scares them off. But yeah, that was horrible! At first, since it was referred to by someone else, I was thinking it was gossip, like whatever had really happened had been terribly exaggerated. But more and more people refer to it, and it's a lot like Ned's death insofar as it has huge repercussions throughout the 7 kingdoms.

3. Lancel is pretty, but not terribly bright.

4. Margaery gets involved in several storylines. I was glad Sansa had some allies there, even if they were only using her. At least, that's what it seemed like to me.

6. One reviewer said poor Sansa wants so badly to be a Disney princess, but she's stuck in Game of Thrones instead. No, she doesn't fall for Littlefinger, nor will she trust him overly much. He has an unhealthy interest in her, because of her mother, but she's pretty squicked out by him, as she should be.

The pic, I'm 99% sure, is of Robb. I saw it during some of HBO's promotion of the new episode tonight, so it must be some type of official thing. I think it's part of a vision that one particular character has, and if so it's more literal than what was in the book, unless the pic has nothing to do with that scene. Which is entirely possible. But Robb isn't going to really be sitting on the Iron Throne, AFAIK, and while I'd like to see Jon there, I'm not holding my breath.

Tonight's episode was very good, and covered a lot of ground, but there's so much they can't do. Only because the books are huge. When you think about it, 10 hours to cover one book...and with 5 books so far, they've said it's likely they'll be taking two seasons for some books. So much better than trying to do them as 2 or 2.5 hours movies, you know? They're doing some scenes out of order and consolidating things, but so far it seems to be working.

I thought of Robb, too, but that was definitely Ghost at his feet, not Grey Wind. I'm not putting up much hope that Jon Snow would be the one in the prophecy, but oh, if that was so ::FLAILS::

I hope I'd be able to watch it tonight, OMG I'm so excited!!

What I hate about the prophecies is when characters end up bringing them about because they're trying so hard to avoid them. You'd think they'd be saying, "No, I don't want to hear about your prophetic dream, thank you very much. No, really, I'm fine not knowing. No, seriously, shut up!" Which would be frustrating as hell to the one having the dreams, thinking they're supposed to deliver the news.

Poor Sam W., look at what's happened to him, both from keeping prophetic dreams to himself, and trying to save people. You just can't win.

Maybe they mixed up the direwolves? It sure looks like Robb to me, unless it's a pic they shot really late in the second season? I get really annoyed when actors are cast who look too much like another actor, though of course, if they're playing brothers, it makes sense that they might look similar.

You have no idea how confused I was by the LotR movies, because I hadn't read the books, and I had a hard time telling some of the characters apart. My friend who had dragged me (kicking and screaming) to see the first movie finally explained to me later in more detail which character did what, but when everyone has long, dark hair, and they're all dressed somewhat the same, I have a hard time figuring them out.

Maybe it's just my sucky vision, because so many times I miss little things in whatever I'm watching, that it's not until I see a screen cap of something that I go, how the heck did I miss that?

Maybe it wasn't meant as a definite Jon or Robb, but a Stark? To yank the Stark campers' chains lol.

Ah, yes, the generic Stark! Just for the hell of it, I wish they'd used arya. She's still my faborite character.

I love all the Starks, from Ned to all the children. Not so much Rickon, but that's because there's not much on him. I really don't see what's the point of having him except as a spare heir - poor Rickon.

Either he was a spare heir, or just the fact that they obviously don't have any decent form of birth control there! But I do hope he becomes more important to the story eventually.

Yes, the Starks are definitely my favorite family!

3. There's another one - Bran, the sweetest of them all :)

Duh, how could I forget Baby Bran? You're right, he's very sweet!

I didn't see any clips from s2 and don't plan to watch. I want my perception to be unspoiled (yes, it's still me). But i'm kind of scared to watch too. Cause B2 is more cruel.
And can you imagine my reaction to what happened to Robb if i tell you i wasn't spoiled about it? That scene killed me dead!!!!!

I've seen a couple of trailers on youtube but that's about it. I didn't join any of the comms, except for a couple of fic comms, I want to be as unspoiled as possible, with the TV version that is.

Lord Frey was absolutely cruel, what he did to Robb. Urgh, I don't know whether I can watch it on TV, yikes and yikes and yikes. Even thinking about it made me shiver. Aaaargh, Robb should have listened to Greywind :((

Huzzah! Can't wait! It will be interesting to see what the fans say the show does differently from books.

So, have you seen it????

When I finished Book 1, I couldn't decide at first whether I should go on reading or wait for it to be shown on TV. The books won, as April was so far away at that time. And even though the show is faithful to the book, I think we can expect a few delicious add-ons, stuff that are just hinted on in the book, like Renly/Loras for instance.

Season 2 premier was very good. It was kind of a checking in with all the characters, so I won't say it moved the plot forward a whole lot yet, but that's okay. Also introduced some new important characters.

Yes, the books are so rich and chock full of happenings that there's no way it could all fit on screen. :-)

But that was an impressive pic!

No, definitely DON'T read that. It'd spoil the surprise and the twists which are aplenty in the story.

Have you started on the show? That's the throne in question, coveted by the kings of the seven kingdoms, One Throne To Rule Them All, so to speak. And it's made of swords and it's said that an unworthy king wouldn't be able to sit properly on it.
