Okay, I just had a conversation with my sister in law about this... Seriously, how smelly is a durian? I can't believe that something that smells bad can taste good. Does it really?

It's an acquired thing, this liking for durians, and kinda subjective I guess. I like it so I don't mind the smell. It is overpowering though, and I know that they're not allowed in hotels and airplanes.

For those who hates durians, well, some have been known to pass out from it, no kidding! And I've seen it described as smelling like a err, woman's private parts and bad cheese.

The durians are not helping any! I don't want to hurt her feelings so I have to eat them. Not that I don't like them, but durians are so, what should I say, heaty. It'll make the sore throat worse.

What are durians?

It's this fruit (http://web.singnet.com.sg/~tonym/durian.html). It has a very strong smell and taste, overpowering really, and very high acidic contents. It can cause headache, stomach discomfort and sore throat, loved by some, hated by the rest. I like it well enough, but I can't take much. I wish I could though!

It depends actually. For some people, they can eat as many as they want and feel no ill-effects whatsoever ( lucky them ), but some people tak tahan lansung! I'm one of those who can take it sikit-sikit.
