So, I've finished watching the finales of my regular shows and in the order of the ones which gave me the most joy and excitement and edge-of-the-seat suspense:

1. The Amazing Race - happy happy joy joy all the way. 'Nuff said!

2. Survivor - a very satisfying finale where not only the one whom I wanted to win, won, but all three finalists were my favourites!

3. Revenge - it had all the stuff that a great season finale is made of. Every scene was excellent and the cliffhanger was simply magnificent, leaving the audience, me!, with many, many questions. I can't wait for season 2 to begin!

4. Game of Thrones - that was awesome, even if it was, IMO, slightly overshadowed by the second last episode, just like in season 1 ......SPOILERS! ......The birth of Dany's dragons was heart-stopping but nothing could beat the shock of Ed being beheaded. And this time in season 2, the events of Blackwater ... I have no words for the thrill and suspense of that episode, and that's coming from someone who had read that part in the books!

5. House - the finale and the Swan Song episode, they left me all nostalgic and maudlin. Oh House, I'm so going to miss you and the rest of your team, and Wilson, too, of course. That image of you and Wilson riding off into the sunset, that was PERFECT and I couldn't ask for more. A lovely ending to a wonderful show. ( And I was stoked to see Jo from CSI:NY and Emma from OuaT in it! )

6. Once Upon A Time - I'm glad that Emma finally believed! Took her long enough, but to be fair, if I were in her place, I'd be like her, too. And I'm glad that I took the chance with this show, which I tentatively watched mainly because of Jennifer Morrison ( Cameron!! ), but I grew to love it on its own merit. And now for season 2!

7. CSI:NY - Mac getting shot had been done before and I didn't download the finale until much later because I thought the wrong episode had been uploaded! But Mac was shot, but ..... SPOILERS! ..... oh, how I wish that we were left with a cliffhanger instead, one in which we do not know whether Mac will live or die. As it was, it felt a bit like an anti-climax to me. But IDK, maybe they didn't know whether they were going to be renewed or not when they made that episode? But anyhow, I'm so glad that there will be another season to look forward to.

8. Supernatural - *sighs* Not a very good finale, I'm afraid. I'm mostly ... bored by it, but having said that, there had been some moments for me. Two to be exact. One was when Dean found Cas in the car listening to that song, I think it was Vincent? I laughed out long and loud at that, so cute! And the other was when Dean woke up in purgatory. WITH CAS. My squee would have been louder if I hadn't been spoiled for it but as it was, it was slightly low-key but a squee nevertheless.

9. American Idol - the last AI finale I enjoyed was the one with Adam Lambert. I still watched AI but the zing is no longer there. Poor Jessica. I liked her but IMO, the finale would have been more exciting if Joshua had been there instead of her.

I haven't watched Touch and Fringe finales yet but I have no doubt that the finales of these 2 shows would have been somewhere among the Top 5.

SPN bores me as well - but Jensen is still very pretty.

I'm 3 episodes into Revenge - took me that long to work out where I knew the girl from - and I'm really enjoying it. I hope the cliff hanger isn't stretching things out. I think that's the trouble with a lot of shows. This is a good premise but, surely, it can only last so long? How many episodes was it in all?

Really? I thought there would only be a few, like with Trueblood. I can't see how they can stretch it out. I hope they don't leave us hanging for the original story, I don't like that.

I'm enjoying it so far. I like Noland - typical me, liking the geek we're not supposed to like!

Nolan is totally my favourite character too, and I know quite a number on my flist who watched Revenge liked him as well.

And I like Emily a lot. And all the rest, even when they're supposed to be the villains/villainesses of the story.

For me, a lot of the others are too black and white - no one is pure evil or all good - and the revenge is a bit to far fetched. Noland is great, I really like him.

The last episode that I truly love is 'Abandon All Hope' from season 5, the one where Ellen and Jo died ( I cried buckets ). After that, maaaybe 'Clap Your Hands' from season 6 but that's mainly because they did The X-File spoof, the rest ... not so much *sad sigh*

Yayyyyyyyyy Revenge!! Did you mean Emily? I didn't know her before, from what show did you know her from? Or did you mean Victoria? Madeline Stowe who played her is quite well-known for her roles in many films. The one I remember most is 'The Last Mohican'.

I found all the episodes thrilling and suspenseful :))

As you know I've been bored by spn for a while. When angels started fist fighting I stopped caring.

I know Emily from 'Brothers and Sisters.' I watched because I really like Sally Fields (although she was over the top in this)and Emily was one of the girlfriends. I think she's rather sweet.

I stopped watching OUAT after the sheriff died and now started again as it is on TV. :P

Supernatural finale is long forgotten. But I'm watching Home right now.

Yeah, the sherriff getting killed was a bummer but I continued watching because I love the rest of the story. And I like Mr Gold!

I wonder whether we'll ever get the awesomeness that was seasons 1 to 3. Season 4 was good, too, and there were a few stellar episodes from season 5, but season 6 and 7, not so much :/

Now if I want to feel the SPN love back, I watched the S1-3 episodes, and favourites from S4-5. And thank goodness for the fics!

I know right? A finale is supposed to be an extravaganza, One Episode To Rule Them All so to speak, and Revenge was that, and more.

Eeeeps, I wonder what that purple smoke thing in OuaT was. It made me think of the monster in Lost, but purple instead of black. Heheheh, maybe the Queen had accidentally cursed the Black Smoke into Storybrooke as well. I WANT JACOB!!!

Gosh, I watched Study in Pink today and *flails* I've fallen in love all over again. What a series. *flails more* Was also totally blown away by Sherlock again, which is silly since I really really totally adore him anyway... :DDD and John, oh John... *flails madly*

I agree with you on Game of Thrones, House and Supernatural. I haven't watched House in a while, but saw almost all of the first 3 seasons, and watched occasional episodes since then.

The song on SPN was called "Starry, Starry Night" by Don MacLean, and was indeed about Vincent Van Gogh. (My God, the sheer amount of useless trivia I have rattling around in my head is staggering! So nice to occasionally put some of it to good use!)

Watching House this season made me want to go back to the ones that I missed. I stopped watching when they had all the new doctors and House was eliminating them one by one, can't remember which season that was. And then Wilson hooked up with Amber and I didn't like that one bit. But I started watching the last 3 seasons again, and the final season was awesome. Though I heard that Cuddy fans hated it.

I'm bad with lyrics and I totally did not know that that song was about Van Gogh. I think I vaguely thought that the song was kind of gay-ish. Thanks for that trivia!

Starry, Starry Night is the name of one of Van Gogh's most famous paintings. If you look up the lyrics online it makes more sense. I saw some movie about his life, long after I first heard the song, and they used the song over the closing credits, I think. Anyway!

Re: House, I saw most or all of that season with the new docs, and Amber and Wilson, but I think that was the last full season I saw. I saw a few in between, if there was an interesting guest star, or the episode description sounded particularly intriguing. I was never much of a Cuddy fan, and didn't care for her and House together at all.

I think with a lot of shows, after 3-4 seasons, unless I'm really crazy about at least one of the characters, I get bored with the show. Especially if it's a procedural. I watched I think the first 3 seasons of Grey's Anatomy before giving up. Then they went and killed George, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I just couldn't watch it again.

Aargh, he was in more than 1 episode? I wasn't really paying attention to that episode, I just wanted to see JDM, and imagined that that was actually John Winchester lol.

Yes, yes, go watch that movie! It was great. It was actually after watching that movie and the one on Hawking, that I got hooked into Benedict Cumberbatch.

I just checked IMDB, and it looks like he was in the entirety of Season 2, all the episodes. It started out with a sort of crossover reference to SPN - he needed a new heart and there were two possibilities that might match, two brothers whose car had been t-boned by a semi. There was a slowly-developing romance with Dr. Izzy Stevens, and it went throughout the season. There were references to him early in Season 3, but I don't think he was in any of those.

Yes, it was a deliberate shout-out to SPN. They started at the same time, so I think it was the first episode of Season 2, there was a reference to what happened at the end of SPN, with the implication that (of course) the brothers would be a perfect match for Denny, JDM's character.

Yes, he was a ghost later on. Now I need to check and see if that was part of Season 2 or if it was Season 3. The first two seasons of the show were awesome, BTW.

ETA: Nope, it was ep 2-13 that was Denny's introduction, about halfway through the season. He expires in the last ep of the season, but his ghost keeps coming back at various times in the third season.

Anyway, I'll bet there's someone out in fandom-land who has all of his scenes (and only his scenes) in a video.

Son of ETA: I liked Denny MUCH more than I ever liked John. He was a much nicer guy overall, but then, his wife hadn't been killed by a demon, so there you go.

I really enjoyed this season of AI. So.much.talent. I would rather have seen Joshua instead of Jessica in the finale too. She has an awesome voice, but I can't help wishing she'd waited about 2 more years to compete. All she needs is life experience and a little more stage presence and she'll set the world on fire. I do enjoy Phillip Phillips--I was happy he won. He's a nice guy and a unique artist, and I like the unique ones, and I love the single they gave him, wow. Finally they give a finalist a GOOD song and not something sappy and dull. I hope he goes on to have a successful career.

Phillip would have won too, even if Joshua was in the finale I think. But at least, there'd be more of a "fight", if you know what I mean. Jessica gave me the impression of being, well, resigned, that she knew she wasn't going to win.

I actually liked spn finale. It was slow in parts but the end - Dean and Cas in purgatory made it all for me. If only i could be sure the writers won't through this beautiful possibility out and won't drop this as all previous Dean stories. Can you imagine how awesome s8 could be having Dean with Cas in purgatory exploring new territory and fighting to find a way back?

Yeah, the SPN finale bored me to tears. I kept waiting for SOMETHING to happen. Worse still since we watched Nikita's season finale before that, and THAT one was epic awesome. Here's hoping season 8 will have more life kicked back into it.

I enjoyed the OUAT finale as well! I'm glad I decided to stick with the show even though hubby doesn't watch it. I laughed a little when Emma killed Maleficent the dragon almost exactly like in the Sleeping Beauty movie. I do wonder what's gonna happen in Season 2.

#8--speaking of purgatory being the best thing in that finale episode, have you read this fic? It's very Dean-centric, makes purgatory absolutely fascinating (and terrifying and heartbreaking). One of the best fics I've read in years. Perhaps best of all, you catch glimpses of the beloved old Dean who would fight so hard and manage to hold onto hope and dreams of family despite all the tragedy.

Yes, the SPN finale wasn't good. Pretty much Sam and Dean were side characters supporting the storyarcs of the guest stars. Sam was pushed aside in favor of Dean and Cas moments. The only brother moments in the ep were cut (even though they used one of those moments to advertise the ep).

The Leviathans are still around, it's only Dick that was killed. But maybe by the time season 8 begins Sam will have found a way to get rid of them.

What I want most of all is for Sam to rescue Dean. I'll be really disappointed if this doesn't happen.
